By Max Chadwick, JAMESVILLE-DEWITT, N.Y. (NCC News)- This weekend marks the beginning of the playoffs for high school football. There’s usual powerhouses like Cicero-North Syracuse and Skaneateles, two undefeated teams.

Then there’s Jamesville-Dewitt. What’s odd about the Red Rams is that just last Friday, they were still searching for their first win.

That’s right, Jamesville-Dewitt was 0-6 before its 28-20 win over East Syracuse Minoa. Because their lone win was over a league opponent, the Red Rams made the postseason despite being 1-6.

CNY Stream Jamesville-Dewitt broadcaster Chris Sacchi says the atmosphere at JD rivals any he’s ever seen.

“The crowd was incredible,” Sacchi said. “They even rushed the field after the game. They haven’t won a game all season, and to win a nail-biter like that was incredible.”

Sacchi also says JD will use the underdog persona to its advantage.

“They are definitely going to go in with a massive chip on their shoulder,” Sacchi said. “They know that some teams don’t feel they belong so they want to go into the playoffs and surprise some people.”

The Red Rams will look to continue its Cinderella run at Carthage high school this Friday at 7pm.
