By Malika-Budur Kalila SYRACUSE, N.Y. (NCC News)—The student residential complex Theory Syracuse will open on Aug.17. Tenants that need an early move-in may arrive on Aug.10.
Theory Syracuse is a seven-story building, which belongs to Peak Campus, the second-largest privately-owned student housing company in the country. The complex has 245 apartments starting from small studios up to four-bedroom units. In total, the building includes 601 fully-furnished bedrooms with private bathrooms.
Theory Syracuse is located on East Genesee Street. It is two blocks from the center of Syracuse University and downtown. A leasing consultant Lanzel Smith said, the building’s area provides residents variable opportunities in terms of dining and leisure.
“There is always food and entertainment that is going to be available at your door step,” he said. “It’s actually perfect.”
The rent for four-bedroom apartments starts from nearly $600 per person and increases based on the room. According to the consultant, because it is the opening year, the cost of the units are very low.
“When we came to the market, there were a lot of other complexes that actually tried to compete with us because our prices are so affordable,” he said.
The amenities include fitness center with sauna, study and conference areas, game room and courtyard with hot tub. Smith said residents’ safety is a main priority for the business, thus, the complex also offers a shuttle service. All buses have a GPS system and residents can track the location of the transport through a website. Moreover, non-residents can enter only through an app and face check-in. Smith said he hopes that amenities will be driving force to attract people to the property and Syracuse area.
Smith said Theory Syracuse thrives to build bonds with residents and to offer them a comfort zone.
“We are not just trying to give you a house,” he said. “We want to make sure that this is a home for you.”
