Some "purr-fect" friends from Humane CNY in Liverpool

By Alana Seldon Syracuse, N.Y. (NCC NEWS) – Many say a dog is a man’s best friend, but some other furry animals are looking for some company. All month long, animal shelters nationwide are helping you find a cat that would be the purr-fect friend.

About 1.6 million cats are adopted from shelters in the U.S. each year. June is designated as National Adopt a Shelter Cat Month and two of the primary shelters in Central New York are looking to find new homes for cats currently there.

The Central New York Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (CNY SPCA) is on Molloy Road in Syracuse and they are highlighting all of the adult cats in their care at a “Name Your Own Price” value, with the lowest being $5, however all of their normal adoption policies will remain in place.

Humane CNY located in Liverpool is another local shelter where cats are waiting to find new homes. Families looking for their furry friend at this shelter are required to come in and fill out an application. Once approved by a director, the shelter allows you to take your new pet home. While these shelter’s adoption processes are different, you can also visit their website for more information.
