By Chris Thomsen SYRACUSE, N.Y. (NCC News) – Ongoing renovations aren’t the only changes coming to Syracuse Hancock International Airport.
Frontier Airlines will be adding nonstop service from Syracuse to Denver, Raleigh/Durham, Chicago and Orlando in the summer. Flights to Denver and Raleigh/Durham will start on July 2, while service to Chicago (O’Hare) and Orlando will begin on August 12.
But Frontier passengers will have to plan wisely. Trips to Denver, Raleigh/Durham and Orlando will only occur on Mondays and Fridays; departures to O’Hare are strictly on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
Frontier’s service to Denver and Raleigh/Durham will be the first nonstop flights to those locations from the Syracuse airport.
The new flights were announced at Hancock International Airport this morning. Representative John Katko, Syracuse Mayor Ben Walsh and Lieutenant Governor Kathy Hochul were all present for the event.
Today’s announcement continues a trend of low-fare airlines adding service in Central New York. Allegiant Airlines is beginning direct flights from Syracuse to Nashville in June with fares starting at $68. Frontier advertised introductory fares as low as $29.
