By Logan Grossman SYRACUSE, N.Y. (NCC News) — With the Easter and Passover holidays looming, gas prices are on the rise in Syracuse and across New York state. The average gas price in New York has risen over three cents per gallon in the past week, according to GasBuddy.com.

The New York State average is $2.72 per gallon. more than 32 cents more per gallon than one year ago. Gas prices across Central New York could hit three dollars per gallon for the first time since 2015, according to AAA. The organization predicts that prices will rise as much as 40 cents a gallon before the the start of summer.

AAA also said that it is standard that gas prices rise as spring begins but this year’s rise is larger than those of recent years. The company also says that three dollars is a “tipping point” for many drivers who change their habits when the average gas price reaches that point.
