Central New York Eats “Mor Chikin”

Video Transcript: Grand Opening
By Justin Bachman CICERO, NY (Ncc News) — It’s a good day to be a chicken lover in Central New York, as the regions first ever Chick-Fil-A franchise opened in Cicero. Fans of the restaurant chain came from far and wide to get a taste, some driving as much as two hours.

“Man we’ve been waiting for this for months. We heard about it and we’ve had this on the calendar. I took the day off of work and came up,” Bill Cook said. His boss was okay with him playing hooky, but under one condition. “We got 30 sandwiches for our co-workers, and two meals for us.”

At just 10:30 this morning the drive-thru wait was more than 45 minutes and got longer as the day went on, even with two lanes up and running.

The restaurant’s owner, Jimmer Szatkowski, is the man behind the Cicero store. Born and raised in Medina, NY, Szatkowski is proud to be back home.

“It’s really surreal,” Szatkowski said. “I consider it a great blessing to be able to return home to Upstate New York and being able to bring Chick-Fil-A with me, and the opportunity to impact the community.”

Szatkowski said he plans on eating at the restaurant every day. That’s where the secret menu comes into play. Szatkowski wouldnts spill the beans to us, keeping it a secret, but here is what we found that you can try when you’re looking for something more than a chicken sandwich. They’ll know what to do:

  • Blueberry Cheesecake Milkshake
  • Buffalo Chicken Sandwich – Ask for a spicy chicken sandwich topped off with the Chick-Fil-A buffalo sauce
  • Chicken Quesadilla
  • Cookie Milkshake – Ask for a cookie blended into your milkshake
  • Fried Chicken Club – Substitute a fried patty for the grilled chicken breast
  • Grilled Cheese
  • Root Beer Float
  • Extra Crispy Fries – Fried twice for double the crunch
