SU Alum Reaction

By Dominique Patrick SYRACUSE, NY (NCC News) — Syracuse University is among top colleges in the U.S., and several high rankings follow. Out of nearly 5,000 colleges, SU lands at number 144.  Forbes and the Princeton Review rank the university by using surveys.

A few rankings to note: number 108 in Private Colleges, number 68 in the Northeast and 192 in Grateful Grads.

Rankings and surveys happen all too often. As far some are concerned, they are just a bunch of numbers.  What does an actual alum of the university think about the school she graduated from? Ashely Cushing was extremely excited to share her thoughts on the ranking and why she is not surprised.

Studying biochemistry at Syracuse University was a task within itself. Cushing took five years to graduate because of her undecided major. After years of dedication, she finally earned her degree, and proceeded to get a job in her field. The five years at the private school on a hill cost her a pretty penny.

“You should see my student loan payments.”

Despite the cost, she says the people and teachers affiliated with the university were always helpful (a scholarship didn’t hurt either).

“It’s always some extracurricular stuff going on. I think the ranking is absolutely deserved.”

Syracuse University continues to be one of the top schools in Upstate New York.
