By Sara Bonadies CICERO, N.Y. (NCC News) – The Northern Onondaga Public Library in Cicero is serving up some pretty sweet events for teens this summer. Yesterday evening, teens had the opportunity to whip-up a variety of mug cakes. The personal treats, made with simple ingredients in the microwave, are part of the rising trend toward quick, simple and delicious food.
Librarian Terry Morris, who joined the Northern Onondaga Public Library this past December, guided the teens through three different mug cake recipes. Morris organizes many of the library’s teen events and came up with the idea for the program, by stumbling upon a mug cake cookbook while he was assisting a customer. When asked what he was hoping teens would take away from the event, Morris simply replied “I was just hoping they’d have fun.”
The mug cake making event is only one of the library’s many teen programs going on all summer long. According to Morris, the purpose of the events are to encourage teens to come to the library and provide them with something fun to do while school is not in session.
Don’t worry if you missed this tasty event! According to the library’s calendar, you can put your mug cake making skills to the test this Friday at 4:00 pm, at the Northern Onondaga Public Library’s North Syracuse location.
