First Annual Bacon Festival in Syracuse

By Tyler Dudley SYRACUSE (NCC NEWS) –¬†Calling all bacon lovers! You aren’t going to want to miss the first annual Bacon Festival on August 19 in and around Clinton Square.

Get ready to see bacon in a whole other way. People are used to eating bacon in eggs, on burgers, or maybe even on your BLT. What people aren’t used to is bacon in shakes, ice cream, popcorn, or even Mediterranean gyros.

Byblos Mediterranean Cafe is one of the expected 25 vendors who will have a food truck at the festival. Byblos owner Violet Khavvaz has been asked to incorporate different ingredients in her food before and is taking this opportunity to try it out with a chicken, bacon, and ranch gyro. Khavvaz has been in New York for about 35 years and loves taking part in festivals around town.
