By Kelsey Snider Syracuse, N.Y. (NCC News) — USA Football is a introducing a pilot program this fall called Rookie Tackle.

It is a way to bridge the gap between flag football and the 11-player tackle football, like the NFL.

Rookie Tackle was designed after programs like, coach pitch baseball and cross ice hockey.

The field will be split in half, and the teams will consist of 6 to 8 players.

The game will be played as 11-player tackle football, but coaches are allowed on the field, all players will be in a two-point stance, and there will be no special teams plays.

There are 11 leagues across the US participating:

  • Oregon City, OR
  • Lakewood, CO
  • Austin, TX
  • Frisco, TX
  • Indianapolis, IN
  • Westfield, IN
  • Lexington, KY
  • Smyrna, GA
  • Cleveland, OH
  • Philadelphia, PA
  • Yaphank, NY
