Web Extra: Google Launches Educational Campaign for Pre-teens

By Wilenie Sepúlveda Syracuse, N.Y. (NCC News)- “Be Internet Awesome” is Google’s latest attempt to keep children safe while surfing the web. The company joined forced with several online safety groups, including the Family Online Safety Institute , the Internet Keep Safe Coalition and Connect Safely .

The initiative focuses on five key elements including;

  • Be Internet Smart: Share with care
  • Be Internet Alert: Don’t fall for fake
  • Be Internet Strong: Secure your secrets
  • Be Internet Kind: It’s cool to be kind
  • Be Internet Brave: When in doubt, talk it out.

In order to make it fun and interesting for the kids to learn the lessons they created an online game called “Interland”
