Web Extra: NY Bill Would Let Movie Theaters Sell Alcohol

By Brittany Stephanis SYRACUSE, N.Y. (NCC News) — Moviegoers in New York may be able to buy alcoholic beverages at theaters soon.

According to Governor Andrew Cuomo’s executive budget, a new bill would permit alcoholic beverage sales in licensed movie theaters under certain conditions.

While last year’s theatrical market statistics, by the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA), showed an increase in global box office sales, the number of tickets purchased by frequent moviegoers in the U.S. and Canada decreased.  

The decline could be a result of the accessibility of watching movies on electronic devices.
