Newhouse Knows: How to make glass

Newhouse Knows is a franchise of “explainer” news stories produced by 2017 Broadcast and Digital graduate students at the Newhouse School. Similar to explainer journalism produced by professionals, these stories clarify the more complex facets of news stories, provide deeper background, or explain in greater detail how something that’s been in the news works or could work.

Glass is a material that throughout the years has evolved and developed, in fact it surrounds us every day in most of our technological gadgets. Newhouse Knows’ Wilenie Sepúlveda and Isabel Sánchez tells us how despite the innovation, the City of Corning remains true to a two thousand year old art.

Special thanks to Rodi Rovner from Hands-on Glass Studio, G Brian from The Corning Museum of Glass and Corning INC for allowing us to use some images and video from their company.
