By Jordan Jennings Syracuse, N.Y. (NCC News) —The fate of the Carrier Dome depends on the plans of Syracuse University’s campus framework project. The University reached out to the campus community to get feedback on the ongoing project. The dome is potentially the biggest transformation in question. The project could potentially displace teams and interfere with game schedules.
Vice president and chief facilities officer Pete Sala said the project is considering other options to improve the fan experience, while also keeping schedules in mind. The dome is the home to the men and women’s lacrosse and basketball teams as well as the men’s football team.
“It’s not something that’s been taken very lightly. And there’s still a lot of planning that needs to go into place,” said Sala.
As of now there is not a deadline for the project. Sports teams will continue to play at the Carrier Dome throughout next season. Additional campus Framework renovations include Archbold Gymnasium and the creation of the National Veterans Resource Complex.
