By: Rob Romano SYRACUSE, N.Y. (NCC News) — Congressional Democrats are calling for an independent investigation into President Trump’s administration.
This comes after the recent ouster of National Security Adviser Michael T. Flynn, a man who resigned because of his alleged ties to the Russian government.
The New York Times reports Flynn had phone calls with the Russian ambassador that misled Vice President Mike Pence and other officials in the White House.
BBC reports that a number of Democratic members of the House of Representatives are calling for an investigation into Flynn’s conduct.
During today’s meeting between President Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Trump slammed the media and called the treatment of Flynn, “very, very unfair.”
Trump has also called the controversy over Flynn a distraction. The former National Security Adviser was on the job for less than a month, according to the New York Times.
Trump reportedly favors Vice Admiral Robert Haward for his next National Security Adviser. Harward is a former Navy Seal.
