Charity Preview Kicks Off Auto Expo

The charities of Central New York are receiving a big boost in funding this week. The Syracuse Auto Expo kicked off Wednesday with a Charity Preview event that has raised over $3 million in its 18 year history.

The event supports 14 Central New York charitiesincluding AccessCNY, Make-A-Wish and Meals on Wheels. Each of these charities sold tickets for $125, raising $281,000 collectively this year.

One beneficiary, The Centers at St. Camillussupports a 294 bed inpatient facility and various health care services.

Christine Kearney, the Vice President of Rehab and Organizational Development for St. Camillus said the event raised about $15,000 for her charity.

“This event brings us some funding so we can continue to do improvements in our property,” Kearney said, “The charity brings funding so we can continue to serve people in a quality manner.”

The cars on display are extravagant and high-tech. Charirty Preview attendees got a first look at the 2016 models, while donating 100 percent of their ticket price to one of the participating charities.
