Flash Flood Hits Parts of New York

By Waldy Diez NEWFIELD, N.Y. (NCC News) – A flash flood watch in Central New York is in effect from 10 p.m. tonight through Tuesday morning. Parts of the state were affected by Sunday night’s severe flash flooding.

The National Weather Service in Binghamton issued a Public Information Statement this morning. The statement includes observations and measurements taken of the flooding.

Parts of Southern Tompkins County are under a state of emergency. Danby and Newfield are still under a state of emergency due to the severe flooding that happened Sunday night.

As of 9:22 Monday morning, the Town of Newfield received 4.30 inches of rainwater.

All schools in Newfield are closed. Officials are discouraging any unnecessary travel. Many roads are closed.
