By Brian Cheung LIVERPOOL, N.Y. (NCC News)— Now that Spring is here, people are starting to think about shedding the winter pounds and getting in shape for the beach.
The Liverpool YMCA is hosting Total Body Strength & Conditioning classes, where members do a 60 minute total body workout. Instructor Sarah Riessig says this time of year brings in more members.
“I call it the resolution, that everybody from New Year’s on, wants to be ready for the summer and get rid of the holiday guilt,” said Benjamin Shelmidine of North Syracuse.
The workout class starts with a five minute cardio warm-up followed by cardio breaks before cooling down with some stretching. Members in the class hope to chisel out a beach body in time for the nice weather.
“Just keep myself active, throughout the whole year so that we’re ready for the beach,” said Julie Woellmer of Liverpool.
Younger members also hope to get fit before the summer sun comes. Kiera Morgan of Fort Bragg, North Carolina said she’s working out in anticipation of “buying new bathing suits, being able to go on the beach and take vacations.”
The Total Body Strength & Conditioning classes are held every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. A full schedule is available here.
